Solskjaer provides positive Harry Maguire update ahead of Man United vs Leicester

Man United vs Leicester City

Tuesday’s marquee Premier League will see Manchester United play host to Leicester City.

The tie is of little importance to Man United, who have already secured Champions League football for another season and are almost certainly not catching 1st place Manchester City.

This is also United’s second of three games in less than a week, with another tough test vs bitter rivals Liverpool on the cards on Thursday evening.

So, it was expected that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would rotate quite heavily on Tuesday, which is exactly what the Norwegian did with Mason Greenwood the only survivor from United’s win over Aston Villa last time out:

As for Leicester, with three games remaining they sat five points above 5th place. Therefore, they need a win against a slightly weakened United to all but confirm their spot in next season’s Champions League.

Solskjaer provides Maguire update

Prior to Tuesday’s game, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would provide an update on Harry Maguire.

The centre-back was taken off injured in United’s last game vs Villa, with some reports since suggesting that Maguire was set to miss the remainder of the PL season.

Solskjaer’s update on Tuesday, though, was fairly positive. The Norwegian explained that Maguire has not suffered a fracture, before adding he hopes they will see Maguire again this season and that he hopes he will be ready for the Europa League final:

“We’ve had scans and the good news is there’s no fracture, it’s ligament damage. Hopefully we’ll see him again this season and hopefully he’ll be ready for the final.”
