Manchester City & Chelsea interested in Lautaro Martinez

Aguero to depart Man City

It was of course announced earlier this year that Sergio Aguero will depart Manchester City upon the expiration of his contract this summer.

The Argentine will go down as one of both Man City and the Premier League’s greatest-ever players.

Aguero has netted 182 times in the English top-flight, making him the division’s 4th highest top-scorer ever, and the highest-scoring non-Englishman on the list. The forward is currently just five goals shy of Andy Cole in 3rd, and could yet overtake him before the season’s end with a bit of luck.

When Aguero does move on, Man City are probably going to need to replace him.

Granted, they did essentially win the Premier League this season without a traditional no.9, but you would still assume the Sky Blues will want to replace arguably their greatest player at some point in the future.

Man City and Chelsea linked with Lautaro Martinez

One player Man City, and pretty much every other top team, have been linked with is Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland.

But given he is likely going to be one of the best strikers of the next decade, there may be a fair bit of competition for the Norwegian.

So, this may force some teams to look elsewhere to reinforce their striking options.

And, a report from 90min suggests that one player several sides may be looking at is Inter Milan and Argentina striker, Lautaro Martinez.

Martinez has been impressing at Inter for several years now and would score 16 and assist eight in 36 outings this term en route to the Nerazzurri’s first Serie A title in over a decade.

And according to 90min, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool have asked Inter to keep them informed of any developments regarding the future of Martinez.

It is added that Martinez is more likely than Romelu Lukaku to leave Milan and could be available for less than £70m.
